The 2008 Ribcap is a woolen hat or beanie with sewn-in lightweight StructUre impact responsive protectors. It offers you all the advantages of a normal hat, cap or beanie and can at the same time protect you against bumps, bruises, grazes, etc...

Using Structure's advanced lightweight technology Ribcaps are unique. Structure technology is a specially engineered material that is capable of effectively absorbing impact and can therefore protect your head against injuries like bumps, bruises, grazes, etc... The protection-effect is also guaranteed for low temperatures and for extreme dampness.

StructUre is a lightweight material, much lighter than the d3o used in previous versions of the Ribcap and it also offers 100% breathability which was a disadvantage of previous models. StructUre offers excellent head protection, and the NEW Ribcap is currently subject to an application for a completely new "soft head protection" category in European CE Safety rankings, that has been inspired specifically by the revolutionary design of the Ribcap.

How StructUre works:

Upon impact energy rich electrons induce a rearrangement and reaction of additional molecular cross-links within the StructUre material. Dependent upon the effective electron dosage, this results in a transition of the StructUre from a very flexible material into a semi-rigid or even fully rigid state. Optimal energy absorption resulting from visco-elastic behaviour and electron induced cross-linking

Roughly translated, this means upon impact the StructUre material changes from a lightweight flexible material into a semi-rigid or fully rigid state depending on the size of the impact. This cushions the Ribcap user's head protecting them from bumps, cuts and grazes…
